The municipal radio fire alarm system in Burrillville is based on the Signal Communications TRX-50 Reporting system which uses VHF radio signals to transmit alarm information to the dispatch center and backup receivers. The main dispatch center located in the village of Oakland-Mapleville is capable of receiving both analog and digital radio box signals.
There are two options for radio box installations:
1) DTX Digital 16 Zone
2) DTX Digital 4 Zone
The 16 zone DTX unit will fits all applications for alarm reporting. The four zone unit may be acceptable in smaller installations where zone reporting is limited. The local Fire Marshal will assign zone reporting requirements as part of the plan review process.
For antenna installations, RG213 coax cable is acceptable up to 75 feet in length. Please contact the factory for installations where the antenna must be located more than 75 feet from the radio box. Antennas should be installed as high as possible on the building and away from any metal materials.
Please review the manufacturer’s installations instructions, installation guide and appropriate radio fire alarm box data sheet for additional information.
All buildings with a fire alarm system require a key access box installed. The radio box can not be powered on and programmed by the Fire Alarm Superintendent until the access box is installed and keys provided.
