1. Does Burrillville Fire Alarm conduct the plan review for fire alarm installations?

No, the local Fire Marshal affiliated with the fire department where the building is located will be conducting the plan review.

2. Does Burrillville Fire Alarm inspect the fire alarm system after completion? 

No, the Fire Alarm Superintendent will be inspecting, testing and programming the radio fire alarm box only. The Fire Marshal representing the Fire District where the system is installed will coordinate the inspection and test of the fire alarm system.  The Fire Alarm Superintendent may assist the Fire Marshal on larger installations where multiple zones are reporting through the radio box.

3. My radio box is beeping, is there something wrong?

Most likely, there is nothing wrong.  Each day, the radio box will send a test signal to the dispatch center.  When this happens, the box will emit a few short beeps.

4. My radio box has a steady tone coming from it, is there a problem?

               Yes, a steady tone indicates a problem with your box, please contact us.

5. Who is responsible for the maintenance of my radio box?

The building owner is responsible for maintenance of the fire alarm box.  We will unlock the box and diagnose the problem.  Recommendations as to how to have it repaired will be provided.

6.  Why don’t I have keys for the fire alarm panel and fire alarm box if I own them?

Rhode Island Fire Code laws prevent you from accessing this equipment.  Only licensed professionals and fire department personnel have access.

7.  Who decides if my building needs a radio fire alarm box?

The Rhode Island Fire Code mandates fire alarm boxes for certain types of building size and use.  The Fire Marshals responsible for fire code enforcement will determine which category your building falls under and fire department notification requirements.

8.  I have to shut the power down for maintenance, what should I do?

As long as the power is off for only a few hours, nothing is necessary as the system will continue to run on backup batteries.  For longer outages, please contact us.
