Dr. Liangfei Qiu is the PricewaterhouseCoopers Professor (Full Professor) of Information Systems & Operations Management (ISOM) and University Research Foundation Professor at the Warrington College of Business, University of Florida (UF). He also serves as the Ph.D. Coordinator for the Department of Information Systems and Operations Management.
His research focuses on artificial intelligence (AI) and Fintech; social technologies (including social networks, social media, and prediction markets); and platform technologies (such as the sharing and gig economy, e-commerce platforms, and healthcare analytics) (Google Scholar Citations, ORCID).
His work has appeared in premier academic journals, including Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Management Science, Production and Operations Management, INFORMS Journal on Computing, Journal of Management Information Systems, Decision Sciences, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Marketing Letters, Information & Management, and Decision Support Systems. His insights have also been featured in prominent media outlets, such as Bloomberg Businessweek, The Washington Post, Conversation, and ScienceDaily. He is the author of the books "AI-Empowered Corporate Social Media: Exploring Internal and External Strategy" and "Social Media Analytics and Practical Applications: The Change to the Competition Landscape."
He has served as Editor-in-Chief for Decision Sciences Journal (2026 - present), a Department Editor for Decision Sciences Journal (2024 - 2025), an Associate Editor for Information Systems Research (2026 - present), an Associate Editor for MIS Quarterly (2021 - 2024), a Senior Editor for Production and Operations Management (2018 - present), an Associate Editor for Decision Support Systems (2014 - present), and a member of the Board of Editors for Journal of Management Information Systems (2025 - present).
Dr. Qiu was ranked first worldwide in the number of publications in the top three Information Systems journals (ISR, MISQ, and JMIS) during 2018–2022, and second worldwide in publications in the top two Information Systems journals (ISR and MISQ) over the same period.
He is a recipient of the INFORMS Information Systems Society Sandy Slaughter Early Career Award (2019) and the Association for Information Systems (AIS) Early Career Award (2019), and is an AIS Distinguished Member. His additional honors include the University of Florida Excellence Award for Assistant Professors, MIS Quarterly Best Reviewer Award, Production and Operations Management Best Senior Editor Award, Information Systems Research Best Reviewer Award, Production and Operations Management Best Reviewer Award, Management Science Distinguished Service Award, ICIS Outstanding Associate Editor Award, Decision Support Systems Excellence in Peer Review Award, UF Warrington College of Business Graduate Teaching Award, and the UF Judy Fisher Teaching with Technology Award.
Before joining UF in 2014, he received his Ph.D. and M.S. in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin; M.A. in Economics from CCER, Peking University, China; and B.A. from Chu Kochen Honors College, Zhejiang University, China.
