Proposed Change to the PSMATYC Constitution
During the last PSMATYC Executive Board meeting, the Board discussed two possible revisions to be made to the Constitution.
The first is a revision to the Board-approved policies to redefine membership in the organization:
PSMATYC Membership: Anyone who currently teaches or previously taught mathematics in the state of Pennsylvania will be eligible for free individual membership of the organization. Institutional memberships, which include free registration for two faculty to the annual PSMATYC conference, are available for $100 to interested institutions.
The second is a revision to item 2 of Article XI of the Constitution to include a Member-at-Large on the Board:
2. The Executive Board shall consist of one Regional Representative from the North West, North Central, North East, Laurel Highlands, South Central and East regions, two Regional Representatives from the South East and South West regions, a Member-at-Large appointed by the President, the officers of the Association, and the Chairpersons of the Standing Committees.
The first revision only needs approval from the Board. Since the second is a revision to the constitution, it needs to be approved by the Board and then ratified by the general membership. We will discuss revisions to the Constitution during the General Membership meeting on April 11. Thank you in advance for your review and consideration.
