Alumni and undergrads attended yet another successful convention this past weekend in Champaign-Urbana, hosted by the Omicron in conjunction with their centennial. Highlights included:
* the Chi Delta won yet another award for philanthropy this year, demonstrating yet again our commitment as individuals and as a chapter to serving the campus and community.
* Tim Zepp, '08, was elected as secretary of the Psi Upsilon Foundation.
* Tina Del Carpio, '11, was elected as the alternate to the Undergraduate Advisory Board, individuals on which serve a one year term as voting members to the international Executive Council.
* 4 undergraduates - Eng Seng Ng, '11; Tina Del Carpio, '11', Caleb Winebrenner, '11; and Lisa Gutermuth, '12 were honored at the Foundation's Scholarship Luncheon for their awards this year. The Chi Delta received the largest number of awards of any chapter!
We received many compliments for all our members this year. I am proud of all our attendees and delegates for making such an impact. We made many new friends, young and old, and sang every song in the books yet again. I personally received many compliments on how outgoing, mature, insightful and interactive our undergraduates were with delegates and alumni from all the other chapters.
I am sure that Lisa and Tina will report later about the leadership institute and their experiences at convention, but I wanted to give my congratulations publicly for our strong showing. Mark your calendars for next summer's convention much closer to home, at the Hotel Palomar in Washington, DC (June 24-26, 2011).
