AKG C12VR Reference multipattern tube condenser microphone
There is really nothing better for vocals or any thing, really, than a great tube microphone. Tube mics have a subtle warmth and beauty not found in other mics.
Wonderful microphone for vocals or just about anything you need to record. Uses the large-diaphragm capsule of the legendary U 47Cardiod, which is one of the all-time greatest microphones in the world.
This is a must have in any studio. This mic does it all. It is a great vocal mic, plus it is used all the time as a terrific kick drum mic. Great for bass guitar amps too.
I love this microphone! I did a comparison test once with this microphone and an original AKG C-12 Tube mic with a Neumann U87, and a Neumann U-67 Tube mic. This mic sounded almost identical to the other super famous microphones, except that the tube mics had a slightly warmer sound, and of course they cost much, much more. This is a great microphone that can be used for almost any vocals and instruments.
The Shure SM-58 has been a work horse in studios everywhere for years and years. It is a great instrument mic and works great
for recording live vocals.
Another great standard, the SM-57 is one of the best all-round mics to have in a studio. Great for snare drums and close miking
guitar amps.
