Headphone tip:
When laying down a vocal track, remember that if you play your headphones too loud, you will
most likely tend to sing a little sharp. Get used to singing with the phones at a lower volume,
and you will get a much better vocal performance, and that is really what is most important. Try singing with one phone off of your ear to hear the mix and your voice in the room.
These have been my favorite headphones for 25 years. They are very flat and natural sounding. You can wear them for hours without getting "ear fatigue". Every kind of music sounds good with these great headphones. That said, I would never mix with headphones, no matter how good they sound. You really need professional studio monitors to mix. See the Mixing Monitors/ Speakers section for more information about studio monitors.
Headphones are for recording, editing, etc., just not mixing or mastering.
These are great for blocking out external noise while you are working.
