Explicitly Christian Politics
Jesus Christ said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments” (John 14:26). There are those who think, and have others thinking, that they are great Christians. They call Jesus “Lord” and do some great things in His name, but he says to them, “I never knew you; depart from me, you who practice lawlessness” (Matthew 7:23). We can’t hide our lawlessness, or disobedience to Christ’s commands, behind a few good deeds and nice platitudes. We are called upon as believers to turn over every aspect of our lives to obedience to Christ. If he is not lord of all, he is not lord at all.
This includes how we vote, whether as a citizen, or as a legislator. This includes how we speak up in society for justice, truth and what is right, and against what is wrong. God has shown us what is good, and what he requires of us: that we do what is just, that we love mercy, and that we live humbly with God (Micah 6:8). We are the salt of the earth, but if we don’t do our job, we’re useless, and we will be thrown out and trampled underfoot (Matthew 5:13).
There is a great need for all believers to apply Scripture as God leads to all aspects of their lives, and this includes politics. A corresponding need is for Christians to work together in political efforts, in all levels of politics. This includes training Christians as candidates and assisting in their campaigns. In short, there is a need for an explicitly Christian political party, one that is solidly rooted in God’s Word, the Holy Bible. In fact, such a party has been formed in the United States, the American Heritage Party (AHP). Visit the AHP web site www.AmericanHeritageParty.org to read their Digest of Principles and Comprehensive Vision. Then ask yourself, “How can I not be a part of this?”
This web site aims to expand a discussion of what Explicitly Christian Politics is and why it is essential, and how Christians can be effectively involved in it. Please pray for this work.
