2019 VA PLT Outstanding Educator

Patricia Stohr-Hunt

Tricia Stohr-Hunt is a former middle school science teacher. She became interested in environmental education in 1989 when her principal held a Project WILD workshop for teachers at her school. Tricia has been a PLT facilitator since 2004. She has served on the state advisory committee for PLT since 2005.

Tricia has been an assistant professor of education specializing in math and science at the University of Richmond since 1994. She routinely integrates PLT into her science methods courses for pre-service teachers and offers workshops on campus that include teachers from local school divisions.

Tricia took up running a few years ago and now is a regular participant in the Markel Richmond half marathon. She enjoys being outdoors in all kinds of weather, even snow, which is something she really misses about New York. Tricia also loves to read, cook, and will sit down any time to play a good game or complete a puzzle.

Kathleen Ogilvy

Kathleen Ogilvy is a forester with the Virginia Department of Forestry. Kathleen has been a PLT facilitator since 2008. Although Kathleen has led workshops for educators, pre-service teachers and VDOF personnel every year since then she really shines in using PLT at outreach events such as Boy and Girl Scout camps, VDOF Forestry Camp, Hanover Ag Days, 4-H events and many more.

Kathleen enjoys spending her free time exploring the outdoors, new places, and restaurants. She enjoys hiking, camping, kayaking and paddle boarding. Kathleen resides in Chesterfield with her husband, two step daughters and dog.

Tarneshia Evans

Tarneshia Evans, has been a PLT facilitator since 2010. She has assisted in several facilitator trainings for early childhood education, led many workshops and represented PLT at statewide conferences. Tarneshia is also a Growing Up WILD facilitator and volunteers with children’s event at the Richmond PBS station and the Richmond Public Library. Tarneshia has been teaching pre-school since 2000 and incorporates PLT into her lessons. She stays current in early childhood education as a member of the NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children). On a personal note, Tarneshia has been happily married for 16 years. Tarneshia says, “I love all the many hats that I wear!”

Anne Mannarino

Anne Mannarino directs SWIRL (Standards within Real World Learning), based at Regent University. This position caps a distinguished career with the Virginia Beach City Public Schools and Virginia Initiative for Science Teaching and Achievement as a teacher, principal, and science specialist. Throughout her career, she has worked to connect students with nature to enhance their learning. She has been active in helping pre-service teachers understand how to use PLT, and correlated PLT’s secondary modules with the Virginia Standards of Learning.
