Connected educator, connected classroom
Personal learning networks (PLNs) can provide instructional leaders powerful learning opportunities and experiences that are personalized and flexible based on their professional needs. In this course, participants will explore digital age communication and collaboration tools to develop their PLN and provide global learning experiences for their students or staff. Other topics addressed in this course: What opportunities and challenges does global learning bring to the classroom? How does my digital footprint impact my school and community? How will I foster digital citizens in my classroom and/or school? Educators will develop a unit of instruction and implement as an action research project within the time period of this course.
This course will provide instructional leaders with the knowledge and skills to develop a personal learning network (PLN) using today’s technology to:
Support and improve their practice and personal professional growth,
Model lifelong learning while promoting digital citizenship and responsible use of technology,
Present, collaborate and/or co-construct knowledge with students, peers, community, and/or experts locally and across the globe,
Inspire and engage local and global communities to support learning outcomes, improve learning, and showcase learners’ passions and talents.
