It's men's health awareness month this June. In addition, men's health week is from 13-19 June 2022.

Theme this June 2022 is #MenStartTalking

Men's Health Month is aimed at raising awareness of preventable health problems and encouraging the early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys.

NZ's Men's Health Month is about getting men and boys talking about their health concerns, and asking their mates how they are doing.

Mens Health Week 13-19 June 2022

Men’s Health Week is part of a global health awareness campaign marked in the US, Europe and Australasia. The week focuses on the health issues all men face, and raises awareness of steps men can take to help address these.

Men's Health Week encourages men to take a brief survey, which helps outline appropriate steps you might choose towards better health.

What can you do?

  • Consider taking the Men's Health Survey - Whats your score? - it will help focus you on the things you should consider

  • Take your health seriously. If you experience symptoms that concern you, get it checked out by a doctor or other health professional

  • Eat better - chose healthy food - less fat sugar and processed foods, more fruit and vegetables

  • Consider losing weight and maintaining a healthy weight

  • Consider giving up smoking and reducing your alcohol intake

  • Get plenty of exercise - it helps keep your cardiovascular system healthy, as well as improving many other aspects of your health

  • If you're feeling down, stressed, or having difficulty managing life make sure you talk to a trusted friend, colleague, doctor, counsellor, or helpline. Depression.org.nz is a great place to visit
