April Program
Date: April 3, 2018 at 7 P.M. 
Title: Bitsy Chicks on Parade 
Information: Come see what is new in the world of miniature quilts. This group of talented ladies is from the Des Moines area will be sharing information about their organization and presenting the beautiful quilts they create. We are asking anyone who has miniature quilts to bring them for the guild’s show and tell. IF you have shared them before, share them again. Bring as many as you want! Many of us are new and/or would enjoy seeing them again. Now, if only we could just miniaturize the refreshment calories, our evening of small would be complete! For those donating backing fabric to the state fair charity quilts, please bring your 2 yard length of age/gender neutral fabric to the meeting. If you have fabric to donate, but can’t make it to the meeting, please send it with another member, or contact Shirley or Joyce to make arrangements for getting it there.

Information: “Bee” as creative as you like. Decorate a fancy hat with flowers; Dress as a vegetable or fruit; Bring a garden-themed quilt, etc. Even add patriotic touches if you are in the mood!

February Program
Date: February 6, 2018 at 7:00pm 
Title: PAQG Love Stories
Information: Quilts are often expressions of love. If you have made a quilt for someone or have received a quilt as a wedding present, retirement gift, a thank you, etc., please bring your story (and hopefully the quilt itself) to share. Tell how the idea was conceived, why the design and colors were chosen, etc. Inquiring minds would love to know.  If there is time we will be playing quilt block bingo, quilt strip poker, trivia & more too! Bring 10 jelly roll strips (2.5" x width of fabric) and a winning attitude!

Event: Winter/Spring Retreat
Dates:  March 2-4, 2018
Where:  Newton Christian Conference Center in Newton, IA

We are making plans for our Spring Retreat at the Newton Christian Conference Center. Pack up your projects and sewing machines so you have lots to do. We also have many, many strips from the Fall Retreat, so we will organize another “Sew Special” Community Caring quilt project.

 

We have a massage therapist, but are not be able to offer machine cleaning and repair service. Any suggestions of another sewing machine repair service that would come out is  welcome.

 

As always, bring a snack to share and any items you would like to place on the FREE table. Meals prepared by the Conference Center staff will be included for Friday evening, Saturday all day, and Sunday morning.

 

Sign-up sheets will be at the January and February meetings.

Cost:

               $130 Flat rate per person (2 people per room minimum)

               $150 per person for private (director’s) rooms

               $75 for day quilters

               Additional $10 for non-PAQG members

Information: Carolyn Mazloomi’s black and white quilts, using hand painting, stenciling, Tsukineko inks and machine quilting, have won national acclaim. Each quilt illustrates a story.

Event: National Quilter's Day/Charity Sew Fest

Time: 9:00am-4:00pm
Third reformed Church, Room 101 

Please bring your sewing machine, off-white thread, rotary cutter, etc. and lunch. We will again be making Quilts of Valor. If you can only spend part of the day, we will need help cutting fabric and making kits so come for as long as you can. Every minute counts. Hope to see you there!
