New Quilt Show Location for 2026!
Welcome Quilting Friends!
The Pella Area Quilter's Guild is a group of dynamic people promoting an appreciation of the heritage and art of quilts by educating its members through instruction and mutual support, presenting quilts to the public and providing quilts to charitable causes.
Membership in the PAQG is open to anyone interested in quilts. The quilt members represent a wide array of styles (modern to traditional), quilting and piecing experience from beginners to professional quilters and fiber artists. Find more membership information here.
Message from our President: Carol Weihe
"Building Community"
I love activities that build community -- having meals together, quilting together, playing games, etc. All of these provide opportunities to gather and share experiences. This year, let's do all three of these together with our potlucks in July and December, retreats and sewing days, and playing games after our meals this summer. Let's all plan to get to know new-to-us people in the guild, maybe by taking the opportunity to sit with different people at our meeting once in a while, or when volunteering together on a committee or at the quilt show. We could create a secret handshake to show who is a member of our guild, but instead, let's get to know each other better and welcome new members so that when we see each other anywhere, we'll feel like we bumped into a friend, as well as a fellow quilter.
Anniversary Dinner Quilt Challenge
"Let's Play"
One fun thing about being President of the guild is getting to issue the Anniversary Challenge. Since I love to play board games, I thought it would be fun to have everyone create a quilt inspired by a board/card game.
We have so many creative minds in the guild and I'm excited to see what people come up with!
Create a quilt inspired by a board or card game. The maximum size should be 18" x 18". If you visualize that size, you may be able to guess how I came up with it, but just in case, it's the size of old board games when almost all of them were square (think Scrabble or Monopoly), and they came folded in half in a box. This challenge concludes every September at our Anniversary dinner.
