Pella Area Quilters Guild

Welcome Quilting Friends!

The Pella Area Quilter's Guild is a group of dynamic people promoting an appreciation of the heritage and art of quilts by educating its members through instruction and mutual support, presenting quilts to the public and providing quilts to charitable causes.

Membership in the PAQG is open to anyone interested in quilts. The quilt members represent a wide array of styles (modern to traditional), quilting and piecing experience from beginners to professional quilters and fiber artists. Find more membership information here.

Message from our President: Carol Jankowski

2024 Theme: Pumpkins and Tulips!

When my husband and I moved to Pella in the fall of 2019, we traded pumpkins for tulips. We lived in Morton, Illinois - which is known as the pumpkin capital of the world - for more than 20 years. Each fall, the Pumpkin Festival celebrates the pumpkins that are harvested in the area and processed at the Libby's plant in Morton. We knew we would miss the fall celebrations but told everyone we were trading our pumpkins for tulips.

It was bittersweet to say goodbye to friends, neighbors, our church, and my quilting community.

Becoming a part of the Pella Area Quilters Guild was a great way to meet new friends and become part of the Pella community. The guild has many talented quilters that have a love of sewing, learning, and sharing. The guild provides many beautiful quilts each year to local veterans and people that could use the warmth of a quilt made just for them.

It's wonderful to be part of such a caring and accomplished group!

This challenge takes place every September at our Anniversary Dinner. For 2024, the challenge is this -- Pumpkin Patch? Tulip Garden? or, both! Create a 12-inch square bound piece that features either a pumpkin or a tulip. Or, do one of each!
