Fortunately, PEF has some very affordable plans (as in $2 per paycheck for one insurance) which you can also pay through direct payroll deductions to keep things simple.
New PEF member hires can sign up for these plans but if you missed out on that opportunity you're out of luck until there is an open enrollment. That is why this is so important!If you have children. If you expect there is a chance an injury might keep you from work you really need to look into this.
