This web site supports a joint project by Alnwick Chamber of Trade, Alnwick Civic Society, and others to identify, assess, preserve / enhance and promote Alnwick’s pants as a means to support and develop the local economy, as well as to recognise and celebrate this element of Alnwick’s history.
It is a working document, which we are using to gather information. Please get in touch if you spot any errors, or have information to add.  

A "Pant" is a public water fountain, normally attached to a water trough. It is often assumed to be a form of the word "pond".
