This summer, our Pack will again be visiting Camp Carpenter in Manchester, NH. Our dates for 2025 are Sunday, July 13 - Thursday, July 17. We hope that many of you will join us for a week of fun outdoor adventure! This year's camp theme is QUEST FOR HEROES. As has been the case in the past, our pack's policy is that an adult (parent, grandparent, or other) should accompany each Scout to camp (but let Chris McKnerney know if this is an issue - we don't want this to be the reason a Scout is unable to attend camp).
Todd Johnson will be this year's camp coordinator. You’re in good hands with Todd!
Note that this page will be updated as we get more information from the camp.
For those who are new to Camp Carpenter:
Camp Carpenter is situated around a small lake, which offers opportunities for swimming, fishing. and boating activities. Other activities include archery, BB guns, nature walks/hikes, arts and crafts, mini golf, outdoor sports & games, a "trailblazers" adventure for AOL Scouts, and plenty of other uniquely camp fun.
While at camp, our pack generally functions as a group, moving together to activities and meals, which gives the Scouts great opportunities to bond with their pack-mates. At the same time, our policy of having an adult accompany each Scout gives us flexibility to split up as needed (and for adults to take breaks/showers/etc) while maintaining plenty of adult supervision for the Scouts.
Sleeping arrangements are 2-person platform tents with cots. Generally, each parent-child unit shares a tent, but other arrangements are possible, subject to BSA rules. Our pack will sleep in a single unit (group of tents, picnic tables, and latrine/washstand). Depending on numbers, other packs may or may not share a unit with us.
All meals (with the exception of one dinner we get to cook over a campfire in our unit) are served family-style in the dining hall. The camp kitchen staff can accommodate food allergies (but don't generally accommodate food preferences).
Logistics for everyone:
The cost for camp this year will be $560 per Scout (with early bird discount) and around $240 per adult (exact cost will depend on how many adults we have in our group).
If you are considering coming to camp, even if you aren't sure yet, please fill out this form letting us know so we can start to get a rough idea of numbers for this year: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfDE0s5mgQMV47CTLfnAufGZ3TmarL2-3CeTp0FlA5oIeWkdg/viewform?usp=header
To receive the early bird discount, a deposit of $100 per Scout is due to the pack by March 15. Payments can be made to Todd Johnson or Chris McKnerney. After March 15, the cost per Scout goes up to $650. No deposit is needed for adults.
Final payments are due to the pack by May 17.
Keep in mind that all adults attending will need to be registered Scout leaders with the pack. Adults can register here: https://sites.google.com/site/pack748medway/adult-registration
Everyone attending (Scouts and adults) will need BSA medical forms A,B, and C completed within the past year (find the forms here: https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/ahmr/). Form C requires a doctor's signature, so if you or your Scout have an appointment coming up, bring the form along, and if you will need to schedule an appointment to get the form signed, now would be a good time to start that process! These forms will ultimately need to be uploaded to the camp's online portal. More information to come.
Parents/adults can split the week (e.g., Mom attends Sunday -Tuesday; Dad attends Tuesday-Thursday). Both adults will need to be registered leaders and complete med forms, but the family will only need to pay for one adult.
