Every summer, the pack spends 5 days at Camp Carpenter for an overnight Scout camping experience. We arrive on Sunday and stay until Thursday, 4 nights and 5 days. This year, we will be going from Sunday, July 13 - Thursday, July 17, 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for Scouts to try new things, bond with other kids, and gain independence and confidence. Here is a look at some of the things Pack 748 has done in past years.
There is a huge variety of activities, including swimming…
fishing...
responsible use of BB guns…
archery…
nature and STEM…
sports…
a pirate’s cove with paddle boats…
a frontier-style fort…
and tons of other stuff.
The camp does do rank requirements, but we don’t focus on those. We spend the week doing fun, Scout-related outdoor activities.
We stay in large, platform-style tents, off the ground with cots…
and we eat most of our meals in a dining hall- where the Scouts serve their parents!
The camp is a dedicated Cub Scout camp (as opposed to a Boy Scout camp that does a Cub week)…
With a top-notch staff who really know how to relate to our kids.
The camp has a nice balance of structured activities and free time…
With plenty of room for exploration and independence.
The kids who go really love it. And while we do need some parents to go, we don’t require them to stay with their Scout 24/7. Parents and leaders are needed to get the kids from activity to activity and to navigate free time.
Beyond that, the camp does most of the work.
The cost for camp this year will be $560 per scout if you pay before March 14 ($5800 after March 14) and around $240 per adult (exact cost will depend on how many adults we have in our group).
If you are considering coming to camp, even if you aren't sure yet, please sign up, letting us know so we can start to get a rough idea of numbers for this year.
Deposits of $100 per Scout are due by March 14. You can sign up without the early bird discount until our pack meeting on May 10.
All Scouts registered with the pack in the spring of 2025 can go. A parent is required to attend with the Lion Scouts (who will be considered Tigers in May). New this year- a Scout may attend without a parent if we have enough adults going and pack leadership feels the Scout is ready for the experience. This will be decided on a case by case basis. Please let Todd or Chris know if your Scout would like to attend without a parent.
Questions about camp can be directed to our Camp Coordinator, Todd Johnson at toddbjohnson@gmail.com or Chris McKnerney at ooscow@gmail.com. You can also ask any of our leaders about camp. It’s a great time!
