HOW TO RENEW

The total cost to join and renew for 2025-26 is $233. Renewing your Scout is a 2 step process:

1. Renew with the national organization. Families will get an email from Scouting America asking them to renew their membership 2 months prior to the anniversary of the day they joined (or December 31 for those who joined prior to 2023). Follow the directions on the renewal email. The Scout Life magazine may be included by default so be sure to uncheck that if you don’t want it. The online registration should cost $158 without Scout Life. Fees paid to Scouting America online cannot be refunded. 

2. Pay the additional activity fee of $75 to the pack. This fee covers the cost of the Scout handbook, rank neckerchief, advancement recognition, a pack t-shirt, and other pack expenses. The pack is currently only accepting cash or checks. Checks can be made out to Pack 748 and given to Johanna Jennings.

Please note that both steps must be complete before your Scout can earn achievements or go camping with the pack.

For adult leaders:

• If you are a registered pack leader, you will get a separate email asking you to renew. The cost for that is around $66.95 with fees. The Scout Life magazine is an option for leaders as well, so watch out for that. The pack will cover the registration cost for leaders (but not Scout Life). Send Johanna Jennings a copy of your registration for reimbursement.

Notes

• Registrations expire on the anniversary of when you join regardless of when you renew, so there is no benefit to waiting. 

• We have heard that the online renewal system doesn’t work well on phones. Try to use a computer if you can.

• Arrow of Light Scouts should go ahead and renew. Fees paid to Scouting America/Mayflower Council transfer to Scouts BSA troops when the AOLs cross over in February.

• Please reach out to Chris if you can’t get the online renewal to work. We can help you.

• You need a credit card to renew online. If that is a problem, reach out to Chris and we will work out another way.

• Scouts must be current on renewals/dues to go camping, receive achievements, and to participate in Rocket Day/Pinewood Derby.
