It's that time again - time for WINTER CAMPING and/or Klondike activities! Register by end of day Wednesday January 10th, as we must commit to Klondike participants by Thurs. Jan 11th in order to reserve enough patches. Here's the link to sign up:
Here are some of the facts:
WHAT: Winter Campout and Klondike
We are cabin camping at Camp Stambaugh in Canfield, OH (about a 45 minute drive towards Youngstown). We have the Akela Lodge, which is a nice cabin that holds up to 26 campers, so we are opening up registration on a first come, first served basis. Once we hit 26 campers (unless some of you are willing to tent camp!) then registration will close!
Klondike is the winter Boy Scout competition, held this year at Camp Stambaugh, and our district is once again hosting Cub Scout activities - events specifically for the younger cubs. Scouts and siblings are welcome to participate and all participating scouts receive a patch (scouts only).
WHEN: January 19 (Friday) to January 21 (Sunday)
Check in at Camp Stambaugh on Friday evening at 6 PM. Check out is noon Sunday 1/21.
Saturday is Klondike (1/20). Activities begin at 11 AM and run through 3:00 PM.
If you sign up for camping, Klondike activities are included. However, if you cannot camp, you are welcome to register and attend only the Klondike activities on Saturday. Note that those participating in the Klondike events do not HAVE to stay for the entire time, but must alert the district leadership there if they leave (to head back to our cabin, for example).
If you wish to attend Klondike and have your scout get the patch, you must sign up no later than midnight Wednesday 1/10. (NOTE that if you register after 1/10 your scout may not be able to receive a patch.)
Final date to register for campout is 6:30 PM Tuesday 1/16, and this is also the deadline to PAY for campout and/or Klondike, when our den meetings begin.
WHY: Because it's fun, and being outside and camping is what Scouts do.
WHO: All scouts and parents and siblings.
Scouts and siblings may participate in the Klondike activities. Scouts are eligible for a patch. (Sorry, siblings are not eligible for patches, but can still participate in the events.)
All Tiger cubs MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. All cub scouts at all ranks must have an adult leader or parent that is responsible for them, for a ratio of no more than 6 scouts to each adult.
COST:
Campout and Klondike -- $18 for scouts (including Klondike) and $15 each per all other campers.
Klondike activities only -- fee is $3.00 per scout.
Pay your fees directly to our Treasurer Justin Houk at either of the next two meetings - no later than 1/16.
IF YOU PAY BY CHECK - Make checks payable to Pack 3256.
IF YOU PAY BY CASH - Please put cash in an envelope with your name and description written on the outside of the envelope (i.e., "Winter Campout Fees" or "Klondike Activity Fee")
ABOUT FEMALE CAMPERS: Since we have never camped at Camp Stambaugh, we do not yet know what their facilities are for female campers. We will find out and let you know. If females are interested and planning to camp, go ahead and fill out the info in the online registration form so we know.
OTHER:
1. All campers and Klondike participants MUST complete and bring a health form (complete both parts A and B) with them to camp. This is your responsibility. A Health Form is what allows BSA insurance to be available in case of an accident, etc. Health Form is attached. THIS MUST BE DATED WITHIN THE LAST 12 MONTHS.
2. Please plan to bring firewood if you have any (Matt!). If you can, please let us know on the web form.
3. We will need help cleaning up and packing up on Sunday. Please indicate on the registration form if you're willing to stay and help. Please!
Finally, if you have people coming out just for Klondike AND you have people camping, click the link and complete the form FIRST just for campers, then do it again just for the Klondike attendees. Let me know if you have any trouble with this.
Finally, finally, if you do not have a computer or otherwise cannot complete the registration form online, please contact me and we can complete the registration manually. But please only do this if absolutely necessary. The web form is WAY easier for everyone.
