SCOUT SUNDAY is next week Sunday, 2/10. All pack 3256 scouts are welcome to join us at the United Church of Christ at 10AM for their weekly service with Boy Scouts Troop 253, followed by a pancake breakfast in the UCC Hall. Scouts will help out with the church service and with the pancake breakfast, with proceeds from the breakfast going to the church.
In February of each year, as part of the celebration of the anniversary of scouting (February 8th), the BSA deems one Sunday as "Scout Sunday." This allows Scouts to live out their "Duty to God", which is pledged each time they recite the Scout Oath. The Scout Law also says that a "Scout is Reverent." These values are intended to strengthen youth character in their family, community and faith.
This year, BSA has designated February 10th as Scout Sunday (and Saturday February 9th as Scout Sabbath for Jewish scouts and their families). Scouts may participate simply by attending any service in their uniform. As a pack, we will be attending and participating with Troop 253 at the UCC. Please plan to come and help out.
Please do let Patrick know ASAP if you plan to join us. (We sure hope you will.) This will allow our friends at Troop 253 to plan who will do what during the service and during the pancake breakfast.
