Night at the Glen Rock Police Station

posted Nov 6, 2018, 7:12 PM by James Trousdale   [ updated Nov 6, 2018, 7:15 PM ]

On Friday October 19th, Pack 27 had a fantastic tour of the Glen Rock Police Station. Lt. McInerney and Officers Orsita, Graziani, and Surdyka were our gracious tour guides for a 'Safety' themed event.  It included history of the department, demonstrations of CPR, heart defibrillators, weapon safety (do not touch, tell a parent or officer), as well as the daily responsibilities of the police force.

The parents and Cubs of Pack 27 would like to thank all of the officers for their time and efforts in giving the Pack a wonderful tour!!!

Hermitage Tour - American Revolution Soldiers & Spies!

posted Oct 17, 2018, 11:24 AM by James Trousdale   [ updated Oct 17, 2018, 8:19 PM ]

Join the Pack for a fun-filled tour of American History right here in our community on Friday Nov 9th, 2018, from 3:45-5:15pm!  The Hermitage located at 335 N. Franklin Turnpike, Ho Ho Kus, NJ, is a fourteen-room Gothic Revival house museum built in 1847–48 from designs by William H. Ranlett for Elijah Rosencrantz, Jr. Members of the Rosencrantz family owned The Hermitage estate from 1807 to 1970. The site was designated a National Historic Landmark for the excellence of its architecture and added to National Register of Historic Places in 1970.  In 1971 it was added to the New Jersey Register of Historic Places.
We will be getting a tour of the facility and a lesson on American History - In July 1778, word reached Theodosia that George Washington and his troops would be passing through Ho-Ho-Kus on their way from the recent battle at Monmouth Courthouse to White Plains in Westchester County, New York. When the General and his entourage stopped at a local house, Theodosia sent an invitation to Washington for him and his men to come and stay at The Hermitage.
