2020 CLEAN UP TRIP REPORT
ANNUAL LABOR DAY CLEAN-UP REPORT
September 5,6,7, 2020
We had great weather (low 90’s) for the 62nd Annual Clean-up trip! We had 14 people in 8 canoes and 1 kayak for the float down the Elk River—6.8 miles. We had 7 canoes and 1 kayak for day 2 down Indian Creek—6.7 miles and 5 canoes on Big Sugar Creek day 3 for 4.0 miles. A total of 17.5 miles and three rivers in one weekend! A bit of walking was required due to low water conditions. Water temperature was perfect for taking a dip.
The group found a lot of trash, consisting of 7 mesh bags of crushed cans, large pieces of metal, clothing and a total of 19 tires. There were 22 tires we had to pass up due to lack of available canoe space. Tom Hanley found the biggest tire.
Bruce and Karen Fahrmeier visited camp so Bruce could keep his consecutive streak alive!

2020 MERAMEC RIVER REPORT
Because of the Covid-19 issue, a group of friends got together for an unofficial trip on the Meramec River. We floated the 23.8 miles from Woodson K Woods to Birds Nest accesses over 3 days.
The days were warm with plenty of swimming, but it did not rain until the drive home. We saw an eagle, herons, and a lot of turtles on the river. We also drove over to view Maramec Spring (not spelled like the river) and hiked along the Spring branch to the river and back.
The base camp was hopping at night. The first night we were entertained by people making a lot of noise across the river looking for a lost dog. The other two nights we were visited by some very vocal raccoons.
Attending were: Michelle W, Zella R, Susan A, Bob H, and Tom Hanley, reporter.
