UNUSUAL DANGER ON SPRING RIVER

“The club has, in the past, paddled this river.  My daughter, Emma, and I have attempted to shoot the falls and have had success in staying upright only a couple of times.” says Greg Hall.

Since that time, a sinkhole has developed near Saddler Falls on the Spring River in northern Arkansas.  The whirlpool created by the hole has taken the life of a paddler, as reported by the Kansas City Star.

Dyes are being used by geologists to attempt to trace where and how deeply the water flows through the sinkhole and river system.

The area around the sinkhole has been buoyed and marked as a hazard.
