1. Warm-Up: "Uncle Tom's Cabin" takes place in the 1850s soon after the Fugitive Slave Act, which made it illegal to help a slave. In what ways do you believe this Act affected the nation?

2. Read the Article: Christopher Columbus   CLICK ON THE LINK!!!

    a. Summarize the article, paying particular attention to the discussions between Spain and Columbus. (Minimum of 7-10 sentences, using evidence from the article)

    b. Write a letter to Obama, articulating whether we should continue to celebrate Columbus Day, why or why not. (3-4 paragraphs with supporting evidence)
