Submitting Data Caveats
iMapInvasives is designed to allow you to create, manage, and share your invasive species data through an online website. Users can create records to track observations, surveys, treatments, and more. This may especially appeal to groups that do not have their own in-house GIS or database system, allowing them the ability to manage their invasive species data through iMapInvasives exclusively.
However, we recognize that there are many other data management systems out there, and many of our partners have existing systems for collecting and managing their invasive species data. In order for all parties working on invasive species to be able to share invasives data, see what species are approaching their regions, what is new on the radar, or what treatments are being tested or found to be effective, iMapInvasives solicits and incorporates this partner data periodically throughout the year.
These bulk datasets can be submitted to Oregon iMapInvasives in a variety of ways. Incorporating datasets from different platforms can be time consuming, but the effort is well worth it - without sharing data, we cannot create accurate distribution maps, identify survey gaps, and run regional analyses that help us to our final goal, a more healthy environment and economy where invasive species are well managed!
If you have an invasive species dataset for Oregon, we would love to incorporate it into iMapInvasives so we have the most complete picture we can of where invasive species occur and how they are being managed. You may want to start by viewing the Required Fields or you can contact the iMapInvasives Data Administrator to talk directly about how best to share your data.
Data to share can be submitted in a variety of formats: Spreadsheet, comma-delimited text file, GIS shapefile, geodatabase, or GoogleEarth file.
When you submit your data, you will also be asked to sign a Content Sharing Agreement and agree to the iMapInvasives Terms of Use.
