iMap At Work

The iMapInvasives site and the data it maintains have been used by a variety of organizations for many uses.

iMap has been used for:

  • Early detection of priority invasive species through the iNaturalist website
  • Reporting noxious weed locations to the Oregon Department of Agriculture, including new treatments of Mat-grass (Nardus stricta)Sharing knotweed locations and treatment sites in the Upper Willamette River watershed
  • Prioritizing field surveys
  • Modeling predicted habitat suitability maps for weed species under on different climate scenarios
  • Studying biogeography of invasive species across the United States
  • Identifying gaps in data sharing among organizations working in the Portland Metro area
  • Creating distribution maps for early detection, rapid response species such as Garlic Mustard (Alliaria petiolata)
  • Tracking Gorse (Ulex europaeus) survey results along the Oregon Coast
