2017 Nursery Summary
The 2017 Bell Nursery was irrigated, mulched, fertilized and located on about 1000 square feet with 30" x 4" double row configuration similar to previous years. See: 2017-Bell-Nursery spreadsheet and 2017 Open4st photos.
The 2017 nursery had 1648 cuttings and rooted mini-stools planted and 1179 survived (72% survival)
The 8" Dormant cuttings (DC) were planted in rows 30" apart with cuttings spaced 3" to 5" within the row and separated by 4" double rows and MiracleGro Peat moss applied between the cuttings. All clones were represented with 5 cuttings in one or more replications.
The mean planted dormant cutting diameter was 10.54 mm with a mean survival rate of 68% and median rooted cutting diameter of 8.1 mm.
There were 155 dormant cutting clones planted with 1292 cuttings yielding 873 trees having a 68% survival rate.

McGovern was not successful in propagating GG12 from root cuttings. Brad Bender however succeeded to propagate GG12 via the LAW propagation process.
