The Wikipedia Tests online Application (Retired)

The Wiki Tests application allows you to create tests from Wikipedia articles as an aid to learning English vocabulary and grammar. When you access the application, you are presented with the screen shown below:

Before you create a test, you need to decide how you want to search for an article by selecting one of the following options from the main menu:

If you do not type in a 'search term' or enter a passage of text, a test will be generated at random. If you are not happy with a test, then just keep clicking on submit until you are! A Wiki Test is constructed from a random section taken from the Wikipedia article related to the search term entered. The selected section is turned into two types of test. In the first test several words, usually about 10, have their letters jumbled up, and your task is to unscramble them. The second test created is an open cloze test. Both of these types of test are shown below.

The Wiki Tests for Android app, allows you to create tests from Wikipedia articles as an aid to learning English Vocabulary and Grammar. When you start the android app you are presented with the screen shown below:

A Wiki Test is constructed from a random section taken from a Wikipedia article related to the title selected or search term entered. The chosen section is turned into two types of test. In the first test several words, usually about 10, have had their letters jumbled up, and your task is to unscramble them. The second test created is an open cloze test. 

If you do not type in a 'search term' or enter a passage of text, a test will be generated from one of the random Wikipedia articles shown in the selection box. The test will be created when you press the submit button. In the examples below, the tests shown are constructed from an article about the weather:

The correct words are always listed after the tests and before the original text.

In addition to the two types of test generated, a list of important words contained in the article is also displayed.

Finally, the history page contains the last 20 tests created.
