This application allows you to find all the connections between two words that are present in the WordNet lexical database. The graph below shows how the words “river” and “sea” are connected:

Lexical and Semantic Relations in WordNet

WordNet has information about numerous relationships such as:

  1. Synsets - A synonym set; a set of words that are interchangeable in some context without changing the truth value of the preposition in which they are embedded.

  2. Hyponyms -The specific term used to designate a member of a class.

  3. Hypernyms -The generic term used to designate a whole class of specific instances.

  4. Meronymy - The name of a constituent part of, the substance of, or a member of something.

  5. Homonyms - The name of the whole, of which the meronym, names a part.

  6. Toponymy - A verb expressing a specific manner, elaboration of another verb.

  7. Entailment - A verb X entails Y if X cannot be done unless Y is, or has been, done.
