Take a vocabulary test on any topic created from a Project Gutenberg e-book. By selecting an item from the menu, you can search Authors, Titles, or Subjects. If you are just interested in exploring the e-books on the project Gutenberg website, then select "Random Ebooks" from the menu.
After the search results are displayed, you can choose whether to create a test or view one of the articles shown.
A test is constructed from a random section taken from an article. Two tests are generated from the random section. In the first test several words, usually about 10, have their letters jumbled up, and your task is to unscramble them and guess the word. For the second test, the same words selected in the first test are replaced by underscores, creating an open cloze test. Your task is to fill in the missing words.
In addition to the two types of test generated, a list of important words are displayed followed by a table of n-grams. If found, n-grams of length 2, 3 and 4 are displayed.
