The Killare Church graveyard is difficult to visually see, however, it is located across the R390 highway from the Uisneach Pub, between Ballymore and Mullingar. The entrance is in a wall thru a gate off the road to Streamstown. The road is overgrown around the gate and the old church is in ruins with ivy overtaking its walls. The grass has not been recently cut and there are many stones under the grass. A few recent graves have been added to the north section. The old section has not been maintained or repaired. In the book, "Beneath the Shadow of Uisneach", Editor Jeremiah Sheehan, Published in 1996, there was a notation on pages 468 and 471 regarding the Killare Church Graveyard also known as St. Brigid's Church:
Grave #14. "Erected by Henry O'Neill as a token of gratitude in memory of his father, mother and brother, Thomas O'Neill died June 1841 aged 68 years. His wife, Anne died April 1851 aged 76 years. John O'Neill died June 1824 aged 24 years. May the Lord have mercy on their souls and on the souls of the faithfully departed."
While it is unclear if these O'Neills from Killare were related, based on the Irish naming pattern, they could have been 1st cousins of those who went to Montreal. Thomas (1773 -1841) could have been a brother of Hugh Neil who married Anne Young and had sons Thomas, Henry, John, Patrick, Hugh and James. It is just too coincidental.
