New Hampshire K-12 Science Curriculum Framework
The WISE Virtual Learning Environment
WISE is a powerful online platform for designing, developing, and implementing science inquiry activities. Since 1997, WISE has served a growing community of more than 15,000 science teachers, researchers, and curriculum designers, as well as over 100,000 K-12 students around the world.
WISE provides a simple user interface, cognitive hints, embedded reflection notes and assessments, and online discussions, as well as software tools for activities such as drawing, concept mapping, diagramming, and graphing. WISE can also incorporate interactive simulations and models built in a variety of modern web technologies. WISE projects promote student self-monitoring through collaborative reflection activities and teacher feedback.
Students have the opportunity to extend their learning as they embark on a field trip to a real pond environment. Their experience in the real world is enhanced by using two forms of mobile technology for science education – mobile broadband devices and environmental probeware. Read more about using augmented reality to enhance ecosystem science field trips.

The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) gives out samples from their publications and books via their "Tool of the Week"
These Free Tools focus on Exploring Science with Literature- and include lesson plans for a cross-curricular lesson including Science and Literature. The lesson includes a concept map, questions focusing on Bloom's taxonomy and lots of activities for differentiation.
"Come On, Rain" by Karen Hesse, characteristics of organisms, organisms and their environments, changes in the sky and earth, changes in the environment
" Fish is Fish" by Leo Lionni, characteristics of organisms, life cycles, organisms and their environments.
"The Lorax" by Dr. Seuss, characteristics of organisms and organisms and their environments.
"Snow" by Ann Herriges, what makes snow happen, different types of snow
Make Way for Ducklings, by Robert McCloskey, life science, characteristics of organisms, life cycles and environments.
Creative Out of School Learning has developed a collection of Science and Children's Literature themes, lessons titled: Polymers, Weather and Balance
The following websites are owned and maintained by NHDOE, Office of STEM Education. They are very much “living documents,” that should grow to reflect the vision and mission of the STEM (including engineering and computer science) education community in NH.
