"Adverse reactions to MTX are usually mild and self-limited. The most common are stomatitis and conjunctivitis. Rare side effects include gastritis, enteritis, dermatitis, pneumonitis, alopecia, elevated liver enzymes, and bone marrow suppression. Approximately 30 percent of patients in the single-dose protocol will have side effects; this rate is lower than with multidose regimens (40 percent)" (UpToDate).
Interval to Pregnancy:
- Avoid pregnancy for 4-6 months after MTX
"Two studies that included more than 1000 women with symptomatic early pregnancies found that pregnancies with an hCG rise of ≥35 percent in two days should be considered potential IUPs. In one study, 99.9 percent of IUPs had an hCG rise of ≥35 percent every two days" (UpToDate)
