New Zealand Private Maternity Homes

An ongoing, and building, list of and database of information on  historic private maternity homes and "lying-in" hospitals in New  Zealand. Sources are mainly the newspaper collections at Papers Past (care of the National Library) -- but also whatever I manage to come across in local histories etc. Apart from a few exceptions, the lists do not include midwives who did not have a residence also used to house expectant mothers. I have tried to stick specifically to info on private residences and buildings used as maternity hospitals.
