Attendance is crucial. There is little daily homework; what we do in class is the heart of TOK. Be on time.
Come prepared to participate actively each day. You will be expected to read, take notes, contribute to discussions, and listen carefully to your classmates and to me.
We will practice Socratic dialogue.
Academic honesty is required in this class and in all of your classes (see green handout). Most IB work will be submitted to Turnitin.com. You must be a student in good standing at the school to continue with IB.
Although there is little daily homework, there are some big assignments. Here is a list of important major deadlines:
June, 2010: Completion of a rough draft of your Extended Essay (4000 words). You will receive an incomplete in TOK if this is not turned in. An incomplete turns to “F” if it is not cleared within the first six weeks of the fall term.
TOK Presentations will be spread across October through December.
November 1: Final copy of the Extended Essay, signed off by your supervisor. If the EE is not complete, there will be a parent conference before you will be allowed to register for IB exams.
January 21, 2011: TOK essay is due.
Note: November should be “TOK light” with good class meetings but no major assignments outside of class. Most seniors are busy completing college applications during that time
