Algebra 1 B Classroom Policies
Welcome to Algebra 1 A, one of the classes in the mathematics sequence at NPHS. The following are general policies and guidelines for this class. Please read them, understand them, and discuss them with your parent/guardian. Any of these policies or rules may be modified as needed.
General Classroom Rules
- Respect and be polite to students, teachers, administrators, and school staff.
- Bring all needed materials to class every day: covered textbook, homework, paper, graph paper, pencils (no pens), rulers, and scientific calculators.
- Be in your seat and ready to work when the bell rings.
- Wait for me to dismiss you at the end of class; do not put your things away early.
- No food, drink, gum, hats, brushes, combs, sunglasses, etc., in class.
- Use the restroom during breaks. Class time use of the restroom will require remaining in class during break the same amount of time that was spent out of the classroom.
- Obey all school rules.
Homework/Classwork/Examinations
- We will cover one section per day.
- Homework/classwork will be assigned daily.
- Use the homework format shown in class: Warm Up, Guided Practice, Problems and Applications, etc. You must write down the problem, show your work (calculations, reasoning, etc.), and state your solution.
- Unorganized or incomplete homework will receive less credit (less points).
- Quizzes will cover from 1 or two sections of a chapter.
- Exams will be given at the end of each half-chapter. Final examinations will be given at the end of each sub-term.
Grading Policy
Your grade for the course will be determined by a percent average of homework, classwork, quizzes, and examinations. Grading will be done on a point system. Homework assignments will be worth 5 points. Classwork (worksheets, etc.) will be worth from 5 to 20 points. Quizzes will be worth 25 points. Half-chapter exams will be worth 100 points. Final examinations will be worth 200 points. The following scale will determine your cumulative grade.
