Unit 2-Common Cents

Common ¢ents is a TAG unit designed to introduce K-2 students to economic principals. Through literature and hands-on activities, the students will use design thinking, creative problem solving, decision making, SCAMPER, and other critical thinking activities while gaining empathy. Unit highlights include designing a shoe for their teacher, building a house for the 4^th Little Pig, making apple pie in a baggie, being stranded on a deserted island, and redesigning the current one-dollar bill. Students will read Alexander Who Used to Rich Last Sunday, Those Shoes, Goin’ Someplace Special, The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig, How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World, The Go Around Dollar, and Tops and Bottoms. By the end of the unit, the students will be able to use common cents when it comes to economic principals. Ch-ching!
