Last TWO weeks / B meets /Popsicle meet rescheduled / Team photo day / Photos needed for slideshow

Post date: Jul 15, 2014 12:37:19 AM

Good afternoon Neptunes!

First off, we both want to thank everyone on behalf of the whole team, the swimmers, and the parents for not only surviving the last week but making it a huge success. The volunteer time put in by all of the families involved in this team and the hard work by all the swimmers in the has helped us compete in the A Meet at Damascus, the Mini-Meet at Flower Hill, the Whetstone B Meet at our pool, the B Relays attempt at Whetstone, another A Meet at our pool, the 30th Annual Long Course Invitational meet that we hosted at our pool yesterday, and the Quail Valley Mini-Meet last night. That was 7 meets in 9 days, and the toughest part of our season schedule.

The swimmers did great, the meets went well, and many visiting parents gave our team compliments for well-run events and gracious hosting. This is all only possible when our parent volunteers put in the extra effort to stay calm and cool on a hot day or evening and help put in the teamwork that is needed for this level of success. We have an adaptation of the old saying - the only "I" in Swim Team comes with the "M" and stands for "Individual Medley" - and it is the teamwork from all of us that helps make the swim team summer super successful. Every drink and hot dog sold, chair or table moved, swimmer in the correct lane, stroke and turn observed, time taken, water cup filled and cha-cha slide slid contributes to our team spirit and community. We do still need some more helpers for the meets this week, as well as volunteers to coordinate the Team Banquet and awards night.

1. WEEKEND WRAPUP

Congrats to all of our swimmers and families for their hard work this weekend. The Neptunes won their dual meet vs. Potomac on Saturday by a score of 418 to 371 (2014 Meet Results). Nearly 70 North Creek swimmers participated in our Long Course meet (this may be a record?!) and many of our preteamers participated the Lollipop meet hosted by Quail Valley. It’s a great time to be a Neptune!

2. TEAM PHOTO DAY – NEXT MONDAY 7/21 at 6:15 PM

Once again, our team photographers will be talented students Michelle Kim and Rachel Watkins. The order form will be available on photo day, and will also be sent out later this week and will soon be available on the team website. Please support the team and order a photo or other product as a remembrance of the season. Unfortunately, there will be no makeup session. All swimmers are needed for the team photo next Monday, July 21! Items ordered will be distributed to families at practice next week or delivered.

4. Photos and music ideas are needed for the website and slideshow!

It’s time to gather your photos and videos - we want to see your best shots for possible inclusion in the end-of-season slideshow. The kids love seeing themselves and their friends in the slideshow, and it’s essential that we include all of our swimmers. We'd also like to showcase some team photos for our website - these will be group shots (from a distance) and we won't be individually identifying any of the kids.

Ways to share:

Social sharing

Tag the Neptunes in your FB photos. Make sure you friend King Neptune on FB: https://www.facebook.com/northcreek.neptunes. Likewise, if you’ve got photos on Google+ you can add the NorthCreek Neptunes (northcreekneptunes "AT" gmail "DOT" com) to your circles and share your photos that way too.

Email

Send your photos directly to northcreekneptunes "AT" gmail "DOT" com

CD/Flash Drive

Give your CD or flash drive to Dave or Liz. Let us know if you want it returned.

Deadline for inclusion in the slideshow is SUNDAY, JULY 20TH. Suggestions for music to include are also welcome!

You can use one or all of the options above, we simply ask that you don’t share the same photo multiple ways, so it’s easier to sort through. We will assume that by sharing the photos in one of these ways, you are granting permission to post these to the website (group shots from a distance only). If for any reason you don’t want a photo added to the website, please let us know, so we can flag it accordingly. If you have any problems with using one of these options or questions about sharing photos, please contact Kristi Lauritsen at bemisia5 "AT" gmail "DOT" com.

5. NEPTUNES NEXT RETURNS!

For those families or swimmers that haven't had enough summer swimming, we will once again hold our optional August Stroke Clinics. These are pay-as-you-go sessions held in the afternoons or evenings and will have online sign-ups for registration. Please pre-register so that we know if the minimum number of swimmers (5) will show up. If there are not 5 or more swimmers registered the session will not be held, so please check back to see the web site before you drive to the pool. We will include a Preteam level session as well as regular aged 10 and under and 11 and up age sessions. These will include a mix of stroke work and sets, and will build on skills already learned. They are designed to help continue to teach and refine strokes for the younger swimmers or to improve technique and build strength for swimmers that will be trying out for one of the winter club programs in the fall (we will provide info about all of those programs soon!). The cost of these stroke clinics is $7 cash per session, collected on arrival.
