November 15 - KONE Memorial Kite Fly on Hampton Beach

KONE member John DiMatteo passed away recently, and KONE will hold a memorial fly on the beach during their scheduled fly on the 15th. This is from Ralph: "Please fly a kite that fits your faith, thought, or custom. Some will fly white kites, some will fly black kites, some will just fly a kite. Hope to see you there."

The flying area is expansive and the tidal flow doesn't get in the way of flying. There is a heated bathroom building on the edge of the sand. There are a few places for obtaining coffee or food if you don't mind walking a little ways. If it's a chilly day the answer is to wear layers. If the wind is blowing from any of the westerly quadrants the launching process can be somewhat challenging but once above any building turbulence the air tends to smooth out. It's a beach, so there could be some blowing sand if the wind is vigorous. In November the parking is free and there are usually plenty of open spaces along the roadway to slide into. Starting time is when you get there.

Unless someone comes up with something new, this is the last organized fly of 2025. The first fly in 2026 will be the New Years Day fly at your usual flying field.
