NORTHERN ILLINOIS CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF TEACHERS OF GERMAN
The NOILAATG Chapter serves teachers of every level of instruction (PreK-Collegiate) in the Northern Illinois area. We are here to help provide information, professional development, materials and resources, as well as to provide a place for collaboration and support for each other.
AATG Mission Statement
The mission of the AATG is based on the belief that bringing the language, literatures and cultures of the German-speaking world to all Americans is a vital humanistic endeavor which serves essential national interests. It's the only national individual membership organization dedicated to the advancement and improvement of the language, literature, and culture of the German-speaking countries.
A long-standing history of dedication to building international relationships
The American Association of Teachers of German, Inc., (AATG) was founded in 1926 by several German professors and teachers who wished to promote and improve the teaching of German language and culture, and to foster friendship between the United States and German-speaking countries. The association offered programs to stimulate interest in German studies, facilitate occasional student and teacher exchange, foster international education, provide audio-visual language teaching aids, and produce publications.
