My search began with whether I want a new device or a new operating system. The first option wasn't really much of an option since I merely dreamt of having sufficient amount of money to purchase any new device. Now, when it comes to operating systems, I could only wish there were multiple choices for me. Linux looked like the only practical alternative since it's free, not many ordinary (not that com-sci people are extraordinary) people use it, and it seemed like a ground for my insatiable craving for new software experience.
I first went with Ubuntu, the most popular choice. Below is the Dashboard feature of Unity.
Next I tried and was convincedly going with the proverbial second comer, Linux Mint. Mint 15 codename: Olivia preceded the newly released Mint 16 Petra. I never really knew the difference between Mate and Cinnamon, but it felt like Mate is more dicretely named than Cinnamon, so I went with it.
The Computer Services Section at the UPLB Main Library actually has Linux Mint installed. The last time I was there, which was about 2 years past, they had Ubuntu as the operating system. I am aware that Mint was based on Ubuntu,

but the look and feel of the two are very different.
Before straying completely from Ubuntu, the OS has come to mobile phones."Ubuntu Touch is what Canonical...sees as Ubuntu's real future." says Vaughn-Nichols at ZDNet. Now there is something for the taking. Atypicality and the action of diverging from the mainstream mobile OS such as IOs, Android, and Windows, has been my guiding principle.

It was stirring at times but after some customization it went horribly slow. Then I thought it will impersonate Windows with its own "Not Responding" window.

I hated on the same level as seeing every monitor on an internet shop displaying Facebook. True to form, I wanted the atypical again.
