Sites Speed Problems
Sites have all been slow for a while. Using one as an example but all are slow, even static html ones.
Contacted support. She tweaked some php settings (the ones in orange) and it did seem faster immediately after.
but the objective testing doesn't seem to agree and subsequent views were slow again:
After more testing in FF Chrome and Brave it still seems slow. Not just slow, but so slow that when I embed a link in minds.com it times out and doesn't display the page.

I optimized the site (minify, compress etc) and .org has been moved to Bulgaria.
I think the end bit is just waiting for one thing to load, the real time is about 12s - so page loading times are fairly similar, just the long delay is strange.
After moving to siteground, it's better but not wonderful still. At least it's usable now. In the tradition of Bad Science, I changed more than one parameter so this is not really conclusive:
I also removed the homepage slider, putting the single image html into a shortcode then giving the theme manager the shortcode as if it was from an external slideshow manager. It would be more elegant to just learn how to make my own theme without all the bloat. Anyway, it's fast enough now, it'll do.
