Quantum Field Theory 2
This course presents the path integral formulation of Quantum Mechanics, and Quantum Field Theory, with applications to scalar field theory and Quantum Electrodynamics. The course runs over five weeks, covering the following topics
Path-integral formulation of Quantum Mechanics
Path-integral formulation of scalar field theories: generating functionals for Green's functions
From Green's functions to scattering amplitudes: LSZ formalism and Feynman rules
Path-integral formulation of fermionic field theories
Quantum Electro-Dynamics: formulation and Feynman rules
Lecturers: Prof Elena Accomando (e.accomando@soton.ac.uk) & Prof Alexander Belyaev (a.belyaev@soton.ac.uk)
This course will have the following format:
students are expected to watch recorded lectures and read materials available at link below;
lecturers will discuss material in depth as well as problems and questions with students during our sessions;
there are two interactive sessions each week, for Soton students they will take place face-to-face in bld 46, room 5011 and for the rest they will be delivered via Microsoft Teams, see the link in the calendar. Sessions will be on Mondays 12:00-13:00 and Thursdays 14:00-15:00 which will run from 26th of January till 23rd of February.
