Commonwealth Avenue carriage lane
The presentation A Network of Greenways for Boston with Northeastern University's Professor Peter Furth on 12/1/2008 was a huge success. The event was co-sponsored by Newton Bike/Ped, Bike Newton, Green Decade Coalition/Newton, and the Newton Library. Event flyer.
The carriage lane on the north side of Commonwealth Avenue's wide grass median is a mecca for walkers and bikers. Professor Furth and his students have recommended several scenarios to direct more vehicular traffic off of this road and to calm traffic on it and crossing it.
