Risk-Taking Mission and Service: The personal practice of Risk-Taking Mission and Service involves offering ourselves in purposeful service to others in need, making a positive difference even at significant personal cost and inconvenience to our own lives. We offer ourselves, our gifts and abilities and passions, to God so God can use us to transform the world by relieving suffering. We serve.
Exploring Disciples:
• Identify what things (paid or volunteer) you really love doing and find energizing or rewarding. Find ways to do those things for God.
• Serve somewhere, either inside or outside the church, choosing occasional or one-time volunteer opportunities. Look through the weekly church bulletin for current opportunities to try something out.
Growing Disciples:
• Take the Spiritual Gifts Assessment to learn how God has prepared you to serve.
• Connect with one or more ministries that will benefit from those gifts. The church office can assist you in finding a place to serve regularly.
Close to Christ:
• Help to organize a local mission project for your small group, serving at a local mission agency.
• Go on a mission trip — we have adult teams that have traveled to Mexico and Costa Rica. High school and middle school students have traveled to areas in need in Missouri and also the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma.
• Commit to serving based on where you are gifted on a regular, ongoing basis.
Committed to Christ ;
• Live out the call to be a servant in your daily life, as Jesus taught, giving generously of yourself to help others always
• Continue to serve based on where you are gifted, while always listening prayerfully and responding to God’s call to you to serve in new ways.
• Take a leadership role in a continuous service opportunity.
