Youth Director Position
Nevada United Methodist Church seeks an individual to lead the High School and Middle School Ministry for our church and community. The Youth Director will be primarily responsible for developing resilient Jesus followers by helping students develop a Biblical worldview and strong personal faith. Through thoughtful planning and preparation, the Youth Director will provide leadership for regular middle and high school student Bible study, discipleship, mission involvement, and fellowship events in a safe (physically and emotionally) and engaging environment.
Personal Qualifications:
Nevada UMC desires to find a youth director with a contagious passion for Jesus.
This person shall be an approachable and outgoing Christian who is a member in good standing of a Christian church.
The person should be skilled in people management, a good learner, recruiter, and motivator, and willing to work as a team player. Creativity, flexibility, and the ability to laugh at oneself are also essential when working with teens.
The Youth Director will be a stable, mature Christian eager to grow in his or her faith and encourage others to do the same.
Responsibilities:
Inspire students and their families to know and follow Jesus while developing a biblical worldview that promotes cultural discernment.
Create a dynamic, meaningful, safe (physically and emotionally) atmosphere for spiritual growth among youth.
Strategize, create, and implement an action plan to develop a growing and vibrant ministry to youth, including Bible study, discipleship, praise/worship, missions education, missions involvement, outreach, service, intergenerational involvement, and fellowship. Flexibility is available in this system.
Plan and facilitate 5th Quarter Nights after home football games for Nevada teens.
Plan, implement, and attend Youth summer camp, mission trips, and/or other approved youth ministry events. The Youth Director should also be involved with Vacation Bible School as a way to reach future teens and service opportunities for current members of the youth group.
Recruit, inspire, train, empower, and equip ministry volunteers to support youth ministry.
Create an effective informational network to communicate schedules and responsibility to ministry volunteers.
Prepare written communication/updates regarding Youth Ministry for parents and church family.
The Youth Director reports to the Lead Pastor.
Compensation:
This is a salaried position with a salary of $12,000 and an average of 15 hours per week for 48 weeks of the year. The Youth Director must be on campus for Sunday morning service and youth devotional time afterward, one additional evening during the week, and five fall Friday nights for the fifth Quarter. Preparation time may be done remotely. Additional salary will be paid for youth trips or special events approved by the supervisor.
Terms of Employment:
A criminal background check and completion of the Safe Gatherings training and background check are required for employment.
Valid Driver’s License
