Skills Practice Course (BRC 2)

This course is for new riders who have recently taken initial training.  This “command and control” course is a one-day skills class that helps you hone your riding skills and become more comfortable controlling your motorcycle.  You will practice techniques of traction management, stopping more quickly, cornering, and swerving.  Think of this as a “reality check” for your riding skills in a low-risk, controlled environment to see how well the BRC translated to your motorcycle.

If you have gained good proficiency on your motorcycle, sign up for Follow-On Training instead, saving a slot in this class for riders who truly need this training.  DO NOT sign up for this class just to "fill a square" for the Air Force.

Prerequisites:  Two to six months and a few thousand miles of varied types of riding with a valid motorcycle license or endorsement.  This is not a class for novice riders or riders who have not ridden in a long time; you must have basic riding proficiency.

IMPORTANT NOTE:   You must provide your own, fully insured street-legal motorcycle, and provide all required riding gear.  Your motorcycle must be in good working order with good tire tread and no leaking forks.  You must have a motorcycle license or endorsement, current registration, and proof of insurance.  This is not a licensing course at Nellis AFB.  You may use someone else’s motorcycle, but that person must provide a signed waiver from the owner, along with a copy of their drivers license.  We are not allowed to loan our BRC training bikes for this course.  Come to the training range with a FULL TANK OF GAS; you will use more fuel than you think.

Required PPE:  Durable pants (jeans or equivalent) with no holes that expose skin, long-sleeve shirt or jacket, eye protection (sunglasses or helmet visor), full-fingered gloves (leather preferable), sturdy over-the-ankle shoes or boots (canvas tennis shoes are not acceptable), and a helmet that meets DOT standards.
