My story:

What is interesting to know about my country is that we didn't take part in the Arab Spring and this because we've already been through a revolution twenty years ago that unfortunatly ended up with what we called "the black decade", ten years of bloody terrorism.

Unlike the European societies, Algerian society don't fully enjoy their rights as citizens and we have 74% of the population who are youth that just woke up from a bloody decade of terrorism.

So what to do now with this huge number of citizens that don't go to vote, that don't feel concerned with their social issues. We are 74% of people that don't participate in shaping governement policies and so on...

Today it's like the Algerian population has been freezed since that time. No one is claiming for change because we're too afraid of the consequences. Today Algerian youth feel lost, frustrated and misunderstood.

I've been developing a program called "Active Citizens" which is consisting of:

• 1. Local and virtual training workshops

  2. Social action projects

  3. International exchanges and Networking

It's a program that aims to equip Young Leaders across the country with skills to help them:

• • Adress social issues

  • Access decision making

  • Contribute to building community

  • Cohesion with people of all generations

So at the end of this, they would be able to make a significant contribution to social change within their community.

The next step would be to make the governement and the different actors and institutions involved in education, sensitive to the question and make them cooperate with me setlle such programs in the National educational strategy.

We need support, trainers and experts because it's a huge project but nobody could do it without us, because we're the most aware person at this moment about how the change can occur in Algeria.

My leadership example:

One leader has really inspired me three years ago. That was at the beginning of my work contract in the NGO I'm still working for now and this person was my former boss.

She influenced me in a positive way and thanks to her I can say that I've become more effective in my work. She brought me confidence and I could elaborate whole projects with my ideas.

She was a calm person, supportive and an active listener and she was encouraging me a lot.

I learned from her to give a chance to anybody wants to build a project from a simple idea. I learned that sometimes or all the time we need to be patient with people.

"Never hurry to get into conclusions"

If some of my friends or colleagues would have been honest with me, they would certainly say that I'm always trying to control everything, every minor detail about absolutely anything I meet during our working hours. I would rather like that they say that I'm "a helpful person" instead!

I should be able to "sell" my programs to the different actors targeted. So, there will be budget for the project as honorarium for the trainers and experts...etc. Then, there will be program's contents would be:
