Our Awards

The Forest Service is critically understaffed and leans heavily on volunteers to pick up the slack. NCBCH and other Back County Horsemen groups have stepped up to fill this void for horsemen. We have been recognized by Florida Forest Service for the work we have done in the forest every year. It is amazing what a ‘pat on the back’ for a job well done can spur you on to do better. One of our most recent projects brought two user groups together with the support and backing from FFS to upgrade and create an improved parking area for day riders at the Smith Prairie Trail Head. A large project completed in two days by volunteers. Please check out the links below to see the result of our efforts.

We have many members that go above and beyond to make our forest better. Some are simple ideas that create great improvements. Others are willing to take equipment into the forest to address a problem and correct it. Still others are just always willing to be available at any time to lend a hand where needed. NCBCH takes this opportunity to recognize a yearly Volunteer of the Year awardee. These awardees serve as an inspiration to our membership.
